These kinds of stories help keep us going every day. As a reminder we do NOT typically adopt out any of our dogs, as they are usually senior or hospice animals. However, we would quickly do a disservice to the animals in our care if we didn’t know when to let go of the healthy animals we’ve saved so we can still have room for more. When and if we place an animal, it’s within our very close and loved community where we know we can still see and love them whenever our heart needs it. We know we can’t keep every puppy we save, we need to have space for others who need us, and our job is to sometimes be a stepping stone for these babies.
Ares first chapter of his life was a rough one, in fact he was on the verge of death.
At 6 weeks old he was placed in the same room as the other household dogs and he suffered a massive attack. He had a broken jaw, punctures in his skull, lacerations to his jugular, left eye socket and sinus were crushed.

Buster Brown was attacked by another dog and needs emergency care right away. His humans have decided to surrender him to ODGTH because the other dog lives in their house and they don’t want him back in danger.

This is Moose. He was just surrendered to us to avoid euthanasia. He was hit by a tractor and fractured his front right leg. The surgery he needs and recovery required was beyond his humans ability and we couldn’t let him die. He is 6 years old and deserves a chance.

Lexi is a 2 year old Frenchie, who jumped off the couch and became paralyzed in her rear. She can no longer stand or walk. She had surgery and we helped her through the recovery. She can now walk!
