In March 2024 Helen received a phone call from a veterinarian at an emergency hospital with an 11 week old lab puppy with a twice broken jaw. The puppy needed emergency care quickly and the current owners had no finances left to support her. They were considering euthanasia.
Helen got in touch with the board of ODGTH and we all agreed to take her on immediately. We got her down to CAVES, where she spent 5 days getting treated for pain, major infection, and then having major surgery on her jaw with an implant.
Andy will need further surgery on her jaw as she grows to make sure she is able to eat properly.
We decided to keep Andy as a permanent member of ODGTH so she could be an advocate for rescue work, and be a happy heart buffer against the losses we suffer here frequently.
Andy will be featured at all our events and help spread the word for senior adoptions, advocating for rescue and how important hospice care is for all animals. She will bring smiles through the sadness and help comfort us in times we need her.
As she grows and needs more care for her jaw, we'll update here on her progress!
Andy was a hit at our good dog fest!
